Ryton

A village on the Tyne

Ryton sits on the River Tyne opposite Newburn, its history shaped by the same river-crossing and riverside-industry patterns found throughout this stretch of the valley. It retains a more semi-rural, villagey character than much of the Gateshead borough, with its own golf course and green space along the riverbank.
