On the Wear's south bank

Pallion's history follows the same pattern as much of riverside Sunderland: streets of terraced housing built through the 19th and 20th centuries for a workforce employed on or around the Wear's shipyards. Its own Metro station, opened with the 2002 Sunderland extension covered on this site's Metro & Ferry page, keeps it well connected to the rest of Wearside.
