A mill above the coast

Fulwell's best-known landmark is its preserved windmill, one of very few to survive anywhere in Tyne and Wear, standing as a reminder of the area's pre-industrial economy before shipbuilding and glassmaking came to dominate Wearside. Otherwise a residential district close to Sunderland's northern coastline, Fulwell sits within easy reach of the beaches at Roker and Seaburn.
