Windmill and water tower

Cleadon has kept two distinctive landmarks that most of its neighbours lost long ago: a preserved windmill, and a striking Victorian water tower built to serve the growing towns nearby. Historically one of South Tyneside's more affluent villages, Cleadon retains a green, semi-rural character close to the coast at Whitburn and Sunderland.
